A 28-year-old man was charged with murder in Magistrates Court yesterday. Richard McNeil stood before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes charged with the murder of Don Ramming on July 6.
According to initial police reports, shortly before 6am on the day in question, a group of people were walking through a track road on Scott Street north of West Street, when they noticed a male lying on the ground with injuries to the head. The police were called, and when they arrived at the scene, they met the body of a dark male with gunshot wounds to the head. Emergency Medical Services arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim unresponsive. During the hearing, McNeil was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to October 14 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.
Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional services until trial. He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
