A 28-year-old man was ordered to compensate another man he injured last week while he was arguing with his girlfriend.
Tamicko Williams was charged with causing grievous harm to Nikeino Smith on July 12.
The prosecution said Mr Smith was at Potter’s Cay when he tried to separate a fight between Williams and his girlfriend. He said during the ordeal, the defendant picked up a bottle and threw it at him, which caused him to injure his finger. Mr Smith also gave police a hospital form which indicated that he had fractured on one of the fingers on his right hand.
When given an opportunity to speak, Williams said he flung the bottle at his girlfriend, but Mr Smith had stepped in the way. He also said he was a hardworking father and the breadwinner of his household and admitted he struggled with controlling his anger at times. After pleading guilty during his hearing before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans yesterday, Williams was ordered to compensate Mr Smith $500.
