CHRIS Smith Jr will make the move from JuCo to NCAA Division III this fall.
Smith was announced as the latest addition to the roster for the Southwestern University Pirates men’s basketball programme for the upcoming fall campaign.
The Pirates finished last season 12-14, which concluded with a loss in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament Quarter-finals.
They finished 8-10 in SCAC and also graduated six seniors from the programme.
Smith, an Abaco native, spent the previous two seasons with the Mountain View College Lions.
In 28 games last season, he averaged 8.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 46 per cent from the floor and 81 per cent at the free-throw line.
He had his best scoring output in the penultimate game of the season when he finished with a season high 21 points and nine rebounds in a win over Brookhaven College.
Smith reached double figure scoring in 11 games and recorded two double doubles - 17 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Mondello College and 16 points, 13 rebounds in a loss to Eastfield College.
The Lions concluded the season with a 16-13 record in the Region V Dallas Athletic Conference.
