JAMAICAN Anthony Lee who escaped from the Eight Mile Rock Police Station about two weeks ago is still at large, according to a senior police official in Grand Bahama.

Lee, 27, also known as Shaquille Aamal Lewis, who resided at Jones Town, Eight Mile Rock, was arrested accused of fraud and possession of dangerous drugs. He broke out of jail on the evening of May 22 and has not been seen since.

“We are still aggressively looking for the suspect,” Superintendent of Police Terecita Pinder told The Tribune on Wednesday.

Ms Pinder again warned that anyone harbouring or assisting the escapee would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Not much is known about Lee, however, it is believed that the suspect may have had a fraudulent NIB card in his possession.

Police have issued a wanted poster with a description of the escaped suspect, but the COVID-19 restrictions and measures could be making it difficult for people to recognize him.

Some GB residents also believe that if the suspect hasn’t already left the island by boat, it is possible he could be disguising his appearance because of the COVID-19 restrictions require the wearing of facial masks.

“He could be anywhere amongst us as everyone is required to wear a mask when out in public, and when you put on a head covering such as a hat, cap, or scarf, and eyes shades, it is very difficult to recognize anyone these days,” said a resident.

The suspect is about 5ft, 10 inches tall of slim build, weighs 175lbs, with dark brown eyes and dark brown complexion. He speaks with a Bahamian accent.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist them in locating the suspect to call Central Detective Unit at 350-3106/12, 919, 911, or Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS(8477) in New Providence or 1-242-300-8477 in the Family Islands.
