A 39-year-old man appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged with incest and indecent assault.
The man, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of the complainant, was accused of indecently assaulting and engaging in sexual intercourse with a six-year-old girl, a blood relative.
The prosecution alleged the acts occurred sometime between December 2019 and February.
During his hearing, the accused was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to September 4 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until trial.
He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
