A 22-year-old man was charged in Magistrate’s Court yesterday with murdering a man and attempting to kill another man last week.
Perez Cuffe appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged with the death of Richard Bain and the attempted murder of Thorio Ferguson on May 12. According to initial police reports, shortly after 7.30 that evening, police were called to the scene of a shooting at a Haitian community off Cowpen Road.
According to initial reports from police, responding officers were told that two men were in the front of a home when they were approached by a gunman, who shot at them. Both men were injured and one died at the scene. The other man was taken to hospital by EMS.
Cuffe was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to August 14 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.
Bail was denied and the defendant was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services in the interim.
He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
