A FREEPORT man accused of assaulting two police officers was arraigned in the Freeport Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Brian Smith, 33, of No 9 East Indianman Road, appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson where he was represented by Paco Deal.
Smith was charged with disorderly behaviour, using obscene language to Sergeant 3167 Bullard and resisting arrest.
Smith is also accused of causing damage. It is alleged that he intentionally damaged a white i-Phone 7, valued at $800, the property Sgt Bullard. He was also charged with causing damage to a red and black i-Phone RX, valued at $600, the property of officer 3775 Beneby.
The accused was also charged with assaulting both officers – Sgt Bullard and officer Beneby, while in the execution of their duties on November 17.
Smith pleaded not guilty to all the charges and elected summary trial.
Prosecutor Calsey Arthur objected to bail. The case was adjourned to February 1, 2021.
Mr Deal indicated that he would apply to the Supreme Court for bail for his client.
