Please allow me an opportunity to comment on the Prime Minister’s call for fair play in the global financial arena while addressing the United Nations (UN).
The Prime Minister’s arguments firstly speak to The Bahamas not being able to leverage the funding and economic assistance for the COVID-19 crisis available through the UN because the Bahamas is assessed as a wealthy country utilizing “inadequate and improper tools”. His second argument is that the development of a “vulnerable index” should be a top priority to better guide international financial institutions in offering assistance.
Well, Mr Prime Minister, I agree with you. Fairplay is required when countries deal with each other and most certainly when governments deal with citizens. Where is the fairplay by your government in dealing with the property owners of Corridor 41, the properties acquired for the New Providence Road Improvement Project for the extension of Milo Butler Highway to connect with Cowpen Road? These properties were Compulsory acquired by the first FNM Government you participated in as Minister of Health from 2007-2012.
In 2015, the government and I agreed on a price for my acquired property. To date five years later, I have yet to receive my settlement. You are asking for fairplay – show me fair play in my settlement. You rightly want fairplay for the Bahamas from the International Community, I rightly and legally deserve fairplay from you with my payment. Remember actions speaks louder than words and as my parents taught me – do not ask others to do anything that you are not willing to do.

Well worth reading as yet another shining example of how the current corrupt Minnis administration could not care less about the rights of property owners. And now we see the same is true of business owners.
