ALTHOUGH New Providence parks and playgrounds are not open due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the country’s most historical parks in the Over-the-Hill area has recently been remodeled by the Bahamas Striping Group of Companies.
The Southern Recreation Park now has new improvements ranging from new landscape and play areas, exercise spaces for adults, and a resurfaced basketball court.
As concerns mounted over the years about children not having a safe place to play, the park has over 20 security cameras that are monitored as well as solar lighting to keep the park well-lit in the evening hours. Once the park opens, it will also be monitored by security wardens 24 hours per day.
President of BSGC Atario Mitchell said the ‘242 signature basketball court’ is the first of its kind in the Over-the-Hill area as it consists of cushion material that absorbs shock to the joints. He added that the park is perfect for the entire family, and the residents of the Bain Town area have now gained a well-equipped and engaging place for recreation.

Doubt the cameras will work and be manned when they are needed the most. Is this the same playground that more than 100k was spent on?
