A 37-year-old woman was remanded to prison charged with stealing an assortment of food items from a local restaurant on Paradise Island last week.
Celeste Hepburn was accused of unlawfully entering Viola’s Bar and Grill on October 24.
The prosecution argued that the accused stole and dishonestly received one container of sour cream, an Aunt Jemima pancake mix, a pack of fried chicken wings, tacos, plantains and bread, along with a bottle of Hershey’s chocolate syrup when she visited the establishment that day.
Yesterday, Hepburn denied the charges in a hearing before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes and the case was adjourned to January 21 for trial.
In the meantime, she was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
The accused has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
