Aquapure closes depot on feared COVID case

Aquapure last night revealed the water depot at its Bernard Road headquarters has been closed for cleaning after an employee was thought to have tested positive for COVID-19.

KLG Investments, the bottled water producer's owner, in a statement said the move was taken out of "an abundance of caution" for the well-being of both customers and other staff.

While acknowledging that the suspected case has yet to be confirmed, the depot - which is located in the parking lot outside Aquapure’s corporate office - was closed immediately upon management learning of the situation.

“Throughout the pandemic, Aquapure has enhanced its already-strict quality and sanitation protocols to minimise risk of exposure. We have been, and continue to follow, all recommendations from the Ministry of Health to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees and customers,” said Christian Knowles, Aquapure's chief of operations.

"The safety and health of our employees and customers is our highest priority. We are in close contact with the employee, and will take additional safety measures as necessary.”

Aquapure said the Bernard Road depot will remain closed until extensive cleaning and sanitisation has been completed, and management has determined there are no remaining health risks.

It added that its ability to produce bottled water, and other depots throughout New Providence, have not been impacted while delivery and retail outlets remain operational.
