Bahamian law firm in running for key award

A prominent Bahamian law firm has been shortlisted in The Lawyer Awards 2020's Offshore Firm of the Year category.

Lennox Paton has been nominated in a field that includes Appleby, Campbells, Carey Olsen, Mourant, OGIER and Walkers, which all have a presence in multiple offshore jurisdictions. It added that this was the first time a Bahamian firm has been named among the finalists in this category.

Brian Simms QC, Lennox Paton's senior partner, said: ‘We are delighted to be recognised and shortlisted by The Lawyer for this award. The nomination reflects our continued growth, success and reputation on the international stage for our legal expertise and service to clients from our offices in The Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands.

"We are proud to be the first Bahamian law firm nominated, and we are pleased to stand alongside the six other leading, well-respected firms in the industry."

The Lawyer Awards celebrate legal excellence in Europe. They are designed to reward best practice across the whole legal industry. The criteria for selection include excellence in a nominated firm’s key jurisdictions; depth and breadth of expertise; commercial strength; legal innovation and market-leading strategy.

Lennox Paton has offices in The Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands (BVI). The firm was last year shortlisted for Offshore Firm of the Year at the Chambers High Net Worth Awards 2019, which it said again marked the first time a law firm from The Bahamas had been shortlisted for the award.
