A 43-year-old man accused of indecently assaulting a 21-year-old female over a period of several years was remanded to prison yesterday.

Earnest Edgecombe appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes charged with six counts of indecent assault.

Officers allege that he committed the offences against the complainant sometime between January and December in 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

He was not required to enter a plea to the charges and the case was adjourned to May 28 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment.

Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.

Jason Saunders, 43, also appeared before Magistrate Forbes yesterday.

It is alleged that Saunders, while being concerned with others, caused grievous harm to Kadeem Saunders on February 7.

During yesterday’s hearing, Saunders pleaded not guilty to the charge and his case was adjourned until July 27 for trial.

Bail was granted at $2,000 with one or two sureties.
