A TEENAGER who was found with a loaded pistol was yesterday sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Police arrested Marck Noralus, 18, after he was caught with a 9mm gun with three live rounds of ammunition on August 2.
He pleaded guilty to possession of an unlicensed firearm and a quantity of ammunition when he appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney.
The prosecution said that around 8.40pm on the day in question, a team of officers on mobile patrol in the Village Alley area cautioned and arrested Noralus after finding the gun and ammunition on him. When the accused was interviewed at a nearby station, he owned up to the offences.
During his hearing yesterday, Noralus told the magistrate he was sorry for his actions and asked for leniency.
In response, Magistrate McKinney said he considered the fact that Noralus admitted his guilt from the onset of the investigation and had no previous convictions. As a result, he sentenced him to 18 months at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
