DOMINIQUE Collie Jr continues his productive start to the season at the plate for the Webber International University Warriors baseball.

The junior outfielder extended his consecutive game hit streak to four and the Warriors took a 3-2 edge in a three-game weekend series against the Florida National Conquistadors.

In game one, Collie finished 1-4 (double), drove in five RBI, with two stolen bases and scored two runs in his team’s 14-6 win.

Webber scored three runs in the bottom of the first and were off and running from there, scoring in each of the first four innings to lead it 9-5. In the end, Webber finished with 15 hits as a team.

In his first at bat, Collie reached on an error but was left in scoring position after an inning-ending double play. He walked in the third and reached in the fourth on a fielder’s choice. He went on to steal both second and third but was again left on base. With the bases loaded in the eighth, Collie hit a bases-clearing double to right centre. He eventually advanced to third on a wild pitch and was then plated by Angel Diaz for the game’s final run.

In game two of the series, Collie was again 1-4 with a double in the Warriors’ 7-3 loss on Saturday. As a team, Webber collected just five hits. In fourth, Collie doubled down the right field line and then eventually advanced to third on a pass ball. Webber left two men stranded in the inning which proved to be their best scoring opportunity of the afternoon.

In the second game of Saturday’s double header, Webber only had six hits but managed a walk off to win 7-6 on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Collie finished 1-3, drove in one RBI and scored one run.

Webber will host Warner University on Tuesday, February 2, in the first of a home-and-away series. Game two will be played the following day in Lake Wales, Florida.

In the season opener, Collie tripled to left centre in the eighth inning to drive in two runs, but the Warriors’ rally fell short in a season opening 6-3 loss to Keiser University.

On the season, Collie is hitting .286, slugging .571 with eight RBI, three runs and two stolen bases.

Collie was an international signing by the Diamondbacks in March 2017. He spent two seasons in Minor League Baseball with the Arizona Diamondacks organisation.

Collie spent last summer with the Palm Beach Diamond Ducks in the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League (SFCBL).

In 18 games he hit .237 with 11 runs and four stolen bases.
