A 25-year-old man was charged with murder in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Shakeem Munroe appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle Davis after he was accused of killing Lamar Moss on January 26.

According to police reports, shortly after 7pm officers were called to a shooting incident that occurred on Mall Drive off Soldier Road. The officers were told two males were seated in a vehicle in front of a residence when the occupant of a small vehicle approached them and discharged a firearm in their direction, injuring one of the males. The victim was taken to hospital, but died of his injuries.

Yesterday, Munroe was not required to enter a plea and the matter was adjourned to April 8 for service of a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

He was denied bail and remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until that time.

Munroe, who is represented by attorney K Melvin Munroe, has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
