KIWANIS CLUB FEEDS FAMILIES

THE Kiwanis Club of Nassau AM fed 65 families during the Christmas holidays through Feed the Family project.

The project’s aim is to provide grocery parcels to families of five or more who are in need. Three senior citizens’ homes also received grocery parcels.

Valued at $150 per family, the parcels included non-perishable items and canned goods such as soups, canned fruit and vegetables, tuna, corned beef, grits, oats, pasta, rice, bread, sugar, Kool-Aid mix, peanut butter, jam, evaporated milk and water.

“Our goal will be to ensure that these families have access to nutritious meals each day for at least three weeks,” the club said in a statement.

“Additionally, we intend to include the homeless in this food campaign by giving them a ‘Blessings Care Package’ valued at $50 containing socks, a blanket, basic toiletry items, healthy snacks and drinking water.”

To date, nearly 500 families have been fed through the Feed the Family initiative.
