A MAN who last month denied defrauding several businesses of thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise was yesterday granted bail before his trial.
Travis Evans was charged with eight counts of fraud by false pretences in relation to a number of offences he was accused of committing during the month of May.
Prosecutors alleged that the accused fraudulently obtained $659.68 worth of goods from John Bull sometime between May 10 and 11.
They further alleged he defrauded Palmdale Furniture of $660 worth of inventory sometime between May 21 and 27.
Evans was also accused of unlawfully obtaining $500 worth of goods from Ron’s Sales Bahamas along with another $2,082.73 worth of merchandise from Whyms Auto Store between May 7 and 21.
Police said the accused defrauded Lil General’s Convenience Store and Quality Home Centre of $463.05 and $403.20 within that same timeframe.
They also accused him of fraudulently obtaining another $289.20 worth of supplies from Lorraine’s Store on May 24.
During his hearing before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle Davis, Evans denied all of the allegations.
As a result, his case was adjourned to October 25 and 26 for trial. He was granted $8,000 bail in the interim.
