TWO men were arrested in separate incidents by police on Tuesday after they were found in possession of illegal drugs in Freeport and Eight Mile Rock.
Superintendent of Police Terecita Pinder reported that Drug Enforcement Unit officers, along with the Canine Unit of Bahamas Customs Department, executed a search warrant shortly before 1pm at a residence on Bruce Avenue, Freeport, where a quantity of suspected marijuana and cocaine were discovered.
As a result, a male who occupies the residence was arrested and taken into police custody.
Ms Pinder reported that a short time later sometime after 4pm DEU officers, acting on information, went to the western side of East Atlantic Drive, adjacent to Bruce Avenue. They found one black and silver pistol, with a magazine containing five .9mm ammunition in the bushes.
No arrest was made in connection with the matter and investigations are continuing.
Mr Pinder also reported that officers of the Rapid Response Unit made a drug arrest in the Eight Mile Rock area.
According to reports, shortly before 10pm on Tuesday, officers on mobile patrol in the area of Cemetery Road, EMR, stopped and searched a suspicious vehicle with two male occupants.
A quantity of suspected marijuana was found in possession of one of the males. The suspect was arrested and taken into police custody.
