POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was shot in his car in the Carmichael Road area on Friday.

According to police reports, sometime after 9pm they were alerted to a shooting in that vicinity, just hours after responding to a triple shooting in the Fort Fincastle area.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man sitting in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The victim was taken to hospital by Emergency Medical Services, where he was listed in critical condition. However, police said the man died of his injuries the following day.

“Initial investigations revealed the victim was seated in his vehicle outside a business establishment when a male approached him and discharged a weapon in his direction, hitting him,” police reported. “The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. Investigations into this matter continue.”
