Two LJM Maritime Academy cadets have joined the Disney Dream cruise vessel for a year as part of their maritime certification efforts.
Christina Adderley, from Eleuthera, and Emily Bain, from New Providence, met with Disney Parks, Experiences and Products chairman, Josh D’Amaro, along with other Disney Cruise Line executives aboard the vessel last Monday.
They joined the vessel as part of the Disney Cruise Line maritime scholarship programme, which included two years of study at LJM Maritime Academy in Nassau and one year of service aboard a Disney ship.
Ms Adderley and Ms Bain will spend about 12 months onboard various Disney Cruise Line vessels, gaining onboard experience and working toward their maritime certifications.
The Disney scholarship programme, announced in 2019 in partnership with LJM Maritime Academy, is part of a larger collection of initiatives Disney Cruise Line has implemented to inspire future maritime professionals and support communities across The Bahamas.
