SPEED, style and precision ruled the day at the Camperdown Equestrian Centre Semi-Annual Horse Show held this past weekend.
Riders of all ages competed in classes of multiple types and were delighted to receive beautiful rosettes and trophies sponsored by Aliv. Saturday’s programme consisted of equitation classes which are judged on style and control.
The highlight of the day was Isabella Coello’s near-perfect ride on her chestnut mare Laureanna CF to win the Marshall and Sterling 2’6” medal.
Sunday’s competition featured the exciting jumper classes, which depend on successfully clearing the challenging obstacles on course in the fastest time.
The show ended on an exciting note with multiple jump-offs in the final Novice Jumpers class.
The fierce competition resulted in a 3-way tie for reserve champion, with Hannah D’Aguilar and Peyton Wong’s Shadowfax eventually emerging as champions once the dust had settled.
The show was judged by well-known judge and trainer Scott Hofstetter of Ocala, Florida. A member of the USHJA Judges’ Committee, Hofstetter has judged top shows including the Washington International and the Canadian Royal Horse Fair.
He was impressed by the quality of competition, in particular praising the riders and their coaches for the excellent conditioning of the horses.
Riders look forward to the next horse show scheduled for December 4-5 at Mariposa Stables, as they hope to continue amassing points towards End of Year awards and Interscholastic Regional Finals.
