A 32-year-old man was in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday with murder.
Andrew Knowles appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with the death of Denis Cash on November 11.
He is also accused of attempting to rob Mr Cash with a gun that same day.
According to initial police reports, sometime after 11pm police received information about a shooting incident on Nassau Street, in the vicinity of the Shoal Restaurant. When they arrived, they discovered a male who appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds about his upper body. Officers said the victim was taken to hospital where he later died of his injuries.
Due to the nature of the offence, Knowles was not required to enter a plea. He returns to court next year to be served with a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).
In the interim, he was denied bail and remanded into custody. He has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
Meanwhile, prosecutors allege that Moesha Barr, 24, aided and abetted the attempted murder of Gary Adams on November 11.
During her arraignment before Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt, Barr was not required to enter a plea and her matter was also adjourned to 2022 for service of a VBI.
Like Knowles, Barr was denied bail and remanded into custody until that time. She also has a right to apply to the Supreme Court for bail.
