Prince Strachan concluded his high school football career with a play that garnered national recognition by the worldwide leader in sports.
Strachan’s 52-yard touchdown reception against Champagnat Catholic in Saturday night’s Florida High School Athletic Association playoff game was featured on the “You Got Mossed” segment of ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” on November 27.
The 6’4” Strachan, outleapt a defender on a deep pass near the sidelines and outraced and completed the play with 20 yards after the catch for the go ahead score.
Strachan’s John Carroll Catholic Golden Rams saw their season conclude with a 38-28 loss to the 2-time defending state champion Lions in FHSAA Region 4-2A title game.
The Rams finished their season 7-3 and played in a regional final for the second consecutive season.
During this season’s playoff run, the Rams opened the playoffs with a 41-20 win over the No.4 seed True North Classical Academy Titans. Strachan finished with two receptions for 43 yards.
The Rams defeated another higher ranked opponent with a dominant 35-0 shutout over the No.1 seed Avant Garde Academy Sharks. Strachan finished with two receptions for 65 yards and one touchdown.
On the season, Strachan finished with 33 receptions for 773 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, all team leads. He also averaged 21.8 yards per catch and 80.1 receiving yards per game in nine contests.
His varsity high school career concluded with 70 receptions for over 1,400 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Last season he finished with a team-leading 33 receptions for 633 yards and eight touchdowns last year. His yardage and touchdown totals were second on the team.
He also averaged 18.6 yards per catch and 57.5 receiving yards per game in 11 contests.
In last year’s playoff run, Strachan had key contributions in both playoff wins. He finished with four receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown in a 33-27 win over First Academy in the opening round and followed with three catches for 75 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown in a 48-13 win over Holy Trinity Tigers in the semifinals.
Strachan was named to the ESPN West Palm Top 63 List for the class of 2021 which traditionally highlights the top players in the West Palm Beach and Treasure Coast area in Florida.
Strachan has picked up several offers thus far from Charleston Golden Eagles, Lenoir Rhyne, St Thomas, and Notre Dame College and has also drawn interest from the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Prince is the younger brother of Indianapolis Colts receiver, Mike Strachan, who was selected in the seventh round of April’s NFL Draft.
