AN officer found a crocus sack of marijuana in the backseat of an ex-convict’s car two years ago, a court was told.
Alicio Roker was charged with dangerous drug possession with the intent to supply after officers alleged they had found four taped packages of Indian hemp in his car in 2019.
He denied the allegation when he first appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney and the matter was adjourned for trial.
When Inspector Harry Butler gave evidence yesterday, he said he and a team of officers went to Fire Trail Road after receiving a tip. He said when they arrived, they observed a burgundy coloured Nissan Cube parked in an open lot. Inspector Butler said he then observed the driver, who was later identified as Roker, getting out of the car before looking in the direction of his police vehicle and walking away.
He said he then approached the accused and searched him with negative results. He said when he and his partner took Roker back to his car, they noticed a crocus sack that contained four taped packages of marijuana sitting in “plain view” on the backseat.
Inspector Butler said when his partner questioned Roker, the accused told him he got the drugs on credit because he had just come out of jail and was trying to get back on the streets. He was subsequently arrested.
The case continues on September 10.
