Extraordinary death total

EDITOR, The Tribune.

Extraordinary number of deaths Bahamas/COVID Statistics are readily available online. Pre COVID in 2009 the USA had 790 deaths per 100,000 citizens. If you pro rata this statistic to The Bahamas with our population of 400,000 we should have 3,160 deaths per year.

This equates to 61 people dying per week in Thursday’s enormous obituaries section of The Tribune there are 189 recorded deaths this week.

In one week we have 128 more deaths than we should have!

Citizens of the Bahamas who are reluctant or refusing the vaccine are taking an insane risk with their own lives. Why die if you don’t have to? Frankly it’s madness.

The number you quote is not accurate, as many burials had been postponed for months, including one where the death occurred Dec 2020.

You need to count the weekly numbers from January and divide by the number of weeks.

With all of those deaths the covid leader surely has failed at saving lives. Time to switch leadership. They are to blame. He is leader for the vaccinated only threatening healthy workers with cruel dismissal in these days where poverty is killing people. Un-vaccinated are simply allowed to die and their families suffer. True leadership would have looked out for the weak especially, not trample their lives under the feet like a dead rat. Brave was praying in church for the suffering while leadership was being a Perry dancer. in devil red. There was no compassion with extra oxygen tanks, all most needed. Not death. People were just allowed to die. Even the vaccinated needed oxygen or they might have gotten preference, or they too may have died. 18 months of preparations and after vaccine rollout the deaths went up 3000%.
