THE Grand Bahama Secondary Schools Sports Association completed the joint Carl Sands Construction under-17 and Franco/Scott/Quinton Big Three under-13 basketball Tournament on Saturday at the Jack Hayward Secondary High School.
In the under-17 boys division, the Sunland Lutheran Stingers nipped the Eight Mile Rock Bluejays 46-45 behind the 1-2 punch from Marco Carey and DeShawn Smith with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Barletta Bootle scored a game high 16 and Andre Jones added 10 in a losing effort.
Gianna Murray of Sunland was named the most valuable player. His teammate Mario Carey was the defensive player of the tournament. Their coach Marco Cooper was named the coach of the tournament.
Named to the All Tournament team were Giannio Murray (Sunland), DeShawn Smith (Sunland), Marco Carey (Sunland), Shameco Albury (Eight Mile Rock), Barretta Bootle (Eight Mile Rock) and Jeremiah Ranger (Tabernacle).
In the Franco/Scott/Quinton Big 3 U13 tournament, Tabernacle Baptist knocked off Eight Mile Rock 30-26 to claim the title as Randy Miller scored 15 points and Isaiah Roker added 11.
Lofton Rigby had 12 points in a losing effort.
The tournament MVP was Randy Miller of Tabernacle, while Alano Doreste, also of Tabernacle, was the defensive player of the tournament. The coach of the tournament was Tabernacle’s Quincy Gray.
Named to the All Tournament team were Randy Miller, Isaiah Roker and Alano Doreste of Tabernacle; Lofton Rigby and Jamaal Delouch of Eight Mile Rock and Sean John of SMPR).
