Convinced after my experience today to be treated as if I am an alien and have not been a client of either of my two banks for 30 plus years.
One, which is infamous for the lack of service in their branch in Palmdale, was advised come back Wednesday and your debit card will be ready.... Hmm that’s a joke.....with a far from courteous response of the so-called Customer Service clerk..... come back Thursday....no apology.
Move on to another of my unfriendly, no courtesy banks..... believe me, Editor, out in the sunshine for 45 minutes .... another 40 minutes on line inside only to discover on the eve of a long week-end One Cashier...yes, one cashier. Their clients were robbed on line outside their branch last week....at a time must have been 20 customers waiting.
Public be warned....one of my Managers slipped and told me.....his HQ up in Toronto want to get rid of cheques...what next get rid of hard currency of the Central Bank?
I will be the last customer before either of my banks for over 40 years will force me to go digital burnt once, not here, never again.
Seems our primary local bank is going to have to open new branches to take all the old customers of the old established Canadian banks who will be forced to leave their once safe haven.
Watch out public it seems that the Canadian Banks don’t want you in the branches.....never want to have any personal contact all up in that cloud of you know....collect and collect more fees.
A very disgruntled bank customer.

The reason, I believe, is this; there is just too much liquid money, cash, floating around and the banks do not need or want it. sucessive governments have increased protection to borrowers who hold mortgages and thus the mortgage lending market has become increasingly unprofitable and so undesirable to the banks. As the banks can no longer make a profit lending out deposited funds they no longer want them. The extremely high cost of employing people means that the banks do not want you dealing in person with a high cost employee but do want you to do your banking transactions on line where they are automated.
