Fidelity Bank High School Track and Field Championships start April 25th

THE Grand Bahama Secondary Schools Athletic Association announced on Thursday that this year’s Track and field Championships will be at the Grand Bahama Sports Complex next week.

The meet will be named the Fidelity Bank High School Track and Field Championships and will be held from April 25-28th for the field events after school and April 29-30th for track events from 10am. The final day of competition will be held on Monday, May 2nd with All the Relays.

The GBSSAA thanked their sponsors Freeport City Council and KFC/ Pizza Hut, Focol, Grand Bahama Port, BTC and the Caribbean Bottling Company Limited.

During the meet, the GBSSAA will honour former longtime president Kenton Rolle, who has relocated to Exuma, and Stephanie Higgs, a retired physical education teacher and coach for over 40 years.

The championship trophies will be named in honour of the late Anita Doherty, former principal of Bishop Michael Eldon School and a former physical education teacher.

The defending champions are St Mary’s in the junior division an Tabernacle Baptist in the senior division.

Covid-19 protocols will be strictly enforced for everyone attending the meet.
