SIX men were taken to court yesterday to face charges in connection with two separate drug seizures that took place on Moore’s Island and Ragged Island last week.
Luthianos McPhee, 32, Deno Hield, 41, and Wenzel Stuart, 51, appeared before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney after police arrested them for being in possession of 265 lbs of cocaine in Moore’s Island on January 25.
In court, they all faced two separate charges of conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs with intent to supply and possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply.
While Stuart appeared late to court, all three men pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate McKinney set their bail at $60,000 with one or two sureties, under the condition that they surrender their travel documents and wear an ankle bracelet.
Another condition of their bail is they must report to the police every Wednesday before 6pm. McPhee is expected to check in at Central Police Station in Freeport and Hield and Stuart are to report to the Moore’s Island Police Station.
The case was adjourned to March 29.
In a separate case, three other men were charged in connection with a major drug bust that occurred off the coast of Ragged Island last week.
Michael Miller, 52, Kingston Saunders, 63, and Romell Miller, 40, appeared before Magistrate McKinney after they were arrested in open waters near Ragged Island for being found in possession of 3,000 lbs of Indian hemp.
They collectively faced four charges, those being conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs with intent to supply, possession of dangerous drugs with intent to supply, conspiracy to import dangerous drugs and importation of dangerous drugs. All three men pleaded not guilty to the four counts against them.
Magistrate McKinney set their bail at $50,000 each with one or two sureties on the condition that they surrender their travel documents, wear ankle bracelets, and report every Wednesday to their local police station before 6pm.
Michael Miller is expected to report to Wulff Road Police Station while Saunders and Romell Miller are to report to Central Station in Freeport.
The case was adjourned to March 29 or 30.
