A piece of jewellery flashing the area code of The Bahamas and the colours of the Bahamian flag is just one of ten things NBA star Deandre Ayton can’t live without.
The 23-year-old New Providence born, Phoenix Suns star sat down with GQ Sports to show off his necessities.
“This is my piece where I’m representing my island,” he says about the jewellery.
“Just telling everybody where I’m from. I’m not American, I’m from a little tiny, tiny country in The Bahamas, in the Caribbean. And you know we got the area code on it, ‘242 To Da World’, you know I’m just always representing where I’m from.”
The NBA star showcased two watches in the interview, a rose gold watch and a red Richard Millie worth over $600,000, posted on GQ Sports’ YouTube channel.
“Red is my favourite colour,” he says.
Other necessities include his car keys, one for his “Lambo truck” and another for his “double Rs.” Double Rs is his luxury Rolls Royce car.
“I like nice things,” he says. “You know I work hard for it so again those two cars is my main things. Me being a big guy, I can’t fit in all of these foreign cars but you know, they made Lambo trucks and I was very happy, you know I had to get me one. And double R trucks always been my favourite. You know a lot of people break they necks when I drive by, it’s just like a yacht on the road for real so I like it.”
His most important thing, he said, is his PS5 game system.
“If you know me, I always have my console with me, no matter where I go I have the whole set up,” he says. “Always since I was younger, this is what kept me whole. I didn’t have that many friends, this was my friend right here. All my friends I met on this right here, so this right here is my best friend.”
A Tom Ford cologne, a candle, lip balms, iPad, headphones, a hoodie and a book (that he never reads) completes his list of essentials.
