DWIGHT Coleby joined his third club of the 2021- 22 season while several other Bahamian frontcourt players had season high performances for their respective clubs.
Coleby, the 6’10” veteran forward, has signed with Al Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates National Basketball League.
The 10-team league was formed in 2013 and Sharjah won the title in 2020. Coleby previously spent time with Cholet Basket of the JEEP Elite Pro A League in France, the top tiered basketball league in France. He originally intended to join Anwil Wloclawek of the Polish Basketball League (PLK) for this season but a failed medical led to the contract being voided. The 6’ 10” forward/centre spent last season with Merkezefendi Belediyesi Denizli of the Turkish Basketball First League (TBL), his second stint in the country.
In a history-making milestone season for the club, Coleby averaged 12.8 points, 10.1 rebounds per game and was named Eurobasket.com all TBL Honourable Mention and Player of the Week twice. Denzeli was also granted promotion to the ING Turkish Basketball Super League, the top division in the country.
Coleby has been a member of various Bahamian national teams at both the junior and senior levels.
Tavario Miller and his Minas Belo Horizonte of Brazil’s Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) recorded a double double in his team’s two-game win streak.
He finished with a season high 17 points and 15 rebounds in a 91-84 win over Pinheiros to improve to 13-3, ranked third in the league.
After their seven-game win streak came to an end with a 91-87 loss to Sao Paulo, Miller finished with 12 points on 4-4 field goal shooting and a season high 17 rebounds in a 76-64 win over Bauru.
Miller is in his first season with Minas and is averaging 10.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. In the FIBA Champions League Americas, Miller is averaging 12.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Shaquillo Fritz scored a season high 10 points and six rebounds off the bench in Marbella’s 77-72 win over Navarra in Spain’s LEB Silver League.
It was just the third win for Marbella this season as they improved to 3-11.
In seven games with the club this far, Fritz has averaged 2.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.
Fritz previously spent time this season with Zamora Enamora. He finished with eight rebounds and two blocked shots in his season debut, a 85-60 win over Carbajosa.
The 6’8” forward spent last season with two LEB Silver Clubs - Venterro CBV Villarrobledo where he averaged 3.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 11 contests and Hozono Global Jairis where he averaged 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game through 10 contests.
In France’s NM1 League, Willis Mackey has emerged as the leading scorer for Mulhouse Basket Agglomeration and has been vital to a four-game win streak.
In 14 games, the third year forward is averaging 12.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game on 68 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent from three-point range.
In their last outing, Mackey scored a team high 13 points to lead his club to a 72-65 win over Kayserberg to improve to 13-4, No.2 in Group B.
Mackey spent last season with JSA Bordeaux Métropole Basket as the team struggled to a 7-19 record, 13th place in Group A.
In 16 games he averaged 13.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
