EDITOR, The Tribune.
Health controls and protocols have to be as close to the same whether it involves us residents, the visitors, or the cruise visitors who are here for a few hours... we have to accept COVID virus does not respect curfews - lockdowns or the unvaccinated and in the case of the current scourge not even the vaccinated it seems.
For anyone after 24 plus months to suggest a free unchecked movement of visitors is a sensible approach to curling COVID has to be out of their mind... COVID is not an indigenous created virus - it came from the outside....We remember recall the first recognised case... trip to Trinidad for Carnival and bingo COVID in Nassau, etc…
Cruise passengers start three-days from being tested so if they are already in contact with a positive the virus will appear on day one-two of their cruise.
Cruise passengers must be rapid tested before they set foot on Bahamian soil.
Any visitor at a hotel who turns positive has to be isolated and chooses to do the 14-day quarantine here or take the offer of the resorts to fly you out... to me that is very generous - I do note there is a discounted cost for the suite.
Editor, facts speak....The virus comes from the outside... it is the responsibility of Government and their skilled medical experts to guide and propose limits - protocols for the best of all not seemingly a ‘minority group of visitors - yes, the cruise passengers, we love you but...
