AN immigration officer and a local DJ have been charged with causing grievous harm to a woman last week during an incident that was captured on video and later went viral.

Calvin Sergeant, 27, and Dillon McKinney, 23, an immigration officer, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt yesterday faced with one count of grievous harm against Esther Daxton on January 20.

A video capturing the incident made its rounds on social media last week.

In the one minute and fifty-three-second-long clip, a woman is seen lying on the sidewalk next to a car which is parked in the road with its doors open.

However, seconds later, a man who is being restrained by another woman later kicks the injured woman in her head.

During yesterday’s arraignment, both men pleaded not guilty to the charges and the matter was adjourned to February 24 for a mention hearing.

Magistrate Ferguson-Pratt granted the two men $9,000 bail with two sureties.

However, they were ordered to report to a police station in their respective communities on a weekly basis. McKinney was told to report to Elizabeth Estates Police Station twice a week, while Sergeant was ordered to report to East Street South Police Station four times a week.

An ankle monitoring bracelet was also ordered to be placed on Sergeant.

McKinney is represented by attorney Ian Cargill, while Sergeant is represented by attorney Domek Rolle.
