Travis Munnings had another team-leading performance on the boards to lift Sporting Lisboa Benfica to another FIBA EuroCup win.
The third year forward finished with 10 rebounds, five points and four assists in Benfica’s dominant 94-57 win over CSM CSU Oradea last night at the Pavilhao Fidelidade Complex in Lisbon, Portugal.
Benfica improved to 7-4 in EuroCup play and brought an end to a three-game losing streak in Group K.
In EuroCup play, Munnings is averaging 8.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Locally in Portugal, Munnings is averaging 11 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, shooting 53 percent from the field and 53 percent from three-point range.
He is currently in his second season in Portugal’s LPB. Last year he averaged 12.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game for UD Oliveirense.
Willis Mackey came off the bench and finished with 10 points and nine rebounds in Mulhouse Basket Agglomeration’s 63-60 loss to SOPCC Tuesday night in France’s NM1 League.
Mulhouse fell to 13-6. In 16 games, the third year forward is averaging a team-leading 11.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game on 64 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. Mackey spent last season with JSA Bordeaux Métropole Basket as the team struggled to a 7-19 record, 13th place in Group A.
In 16 games he averaged 13.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
David Nesbitt and his Boca Juniors saw their five-game win streak come to an end Tuesday night in Argentina’s Liga Nacional de Básquet
Nesbitt is averaging 9.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game en route to an 11-5, fifth in the standings. He is currently shooting 57 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range.
In the FIBA Basketball Champions League Americas, Nesbitt is averaging a team high 14 points per game, including a 22 point effort in a 71-62 win over Universidad de Concepion.
He continued his momentum from the first window of the FIBA World Cup ‘23 Americas Qualifiers last month when he averaged 15 points per game in a pair of losses to Canada.
Nesbitt made the move to Argentina after a four-year tenure in Brazil’s Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). He spent last season with Minas.
In 31 games, he averaged 10.4 points and 5.5 points per game en route to being named an NBB All-Star.
Kino Burrows and his St. Thomas Basket Le Havre club improved to 13-6 and are back in the win column just several days after a five-game win streak came to an end in France’s NM1 League. He scored eight points in just 17 minutes off the bench of Le Havre’s 30 point win over Avignon/ Pontet (95-65) on Tuesday night.
After a slow 2-4 start to the season, Le Harve won 10 of their next 11 games to get back into the playoff race.
On the season, his first with the club, Burrows is averaging a team high 14.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game on 64 percent shooting from the field.
