CONNECTICUT Sun star Jonquel Jones will play her fourth WNBA All- Star game as a member of “Team Stewart.”
Team Stewart, led by Breanna Stewart (Seattle Storm) and Sue Bird (Seattle Storm) will take on A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) and her Team Wilson co-captain Sylvia Fowles (Minnesota Lynx).
Wilson and Stewart were named All-Star captains after finishing atop the fan votes for the game. Fowles and Bird, two legends in their final WNBA seasons, join them for the game.
Jones was selected by Stewart to start alongside Nneka Ogwumike (Los Angeles Sparks) and Jackie Young (Las Vegas Aces).
The remainder of the team includes:
Kahleah Copper (Chicago Sky), Skylar Diggins-Smith ( Phoenix Mercury), Jewell Loyd (Storm), Emma Meesseman (Sky) Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings) and Alyssa Thomas (Sun).
Brittney Griner, who remains detained in Russia after her February arrest, has also been named as an honorary All-Star Game starter.
Jones finished with 11 points and five rebounds in the Sun’s 74-72 overtime win over the Washington Mystics last night.
The Sun completed a remarkable 17-point second-half comeback, the second-biggest comeback in a WNBA game this season.
Jones leads the Sun with averages of 14.9 points per game and ranks third in the league with 9.1 rebounds per game.
The 2022 AT and T WNBA All-Star Game 2022 will be played in Chicago at Wintrust Arena on Sunday, July 10 on ABC.
The weekend will also include a 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge on Saturday, July 9 at 3pm on ESPN.
