American man and daughter hurt in crash

AN American man and his young daughter were ejected from a golf cart they were driving during a collision with a car in Bailey Town, Bimini, on Saturday.

Alice Town police were alerted to the accident in the area of Beach Club 360, at Porgy Bay shortly before noon.

“Initial reports revealed that a 2008 green and beige golf cart, driven by an adult male and accompanied by his juvenile daughter, both of New Bristol Lane, Brentwood, Tennessee, while travelling north on Kings Highway, North Bimini collided with a Black 2013 Acura TL driven by an adult male of Bailey Town, Bimini,” police said.

“As a result, both passengers of the golf cart were ejected. They were treated on scene and later transported to the Bimini Community Clinic with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver was not injured. This matter remains under active investigation.”

Hours later, shortly before 4pm a team of officers while conducting routine patrols in the Porgy Bay Area, observed a Grey Honda scooter with two male occupants acting in a suspicious manner.

“The officers beckoned for the males to stop, where they were informed of the officer’s suspicion. A search was conducted of both males and while searching one of the males, a black valet pouch containing a quantity of suspected marijuana was found in his left front pants pocket,” police said.

“As a result, an adult male of Port Royal, South Bimini was arrested and taken into police custody. Additionally, the driver was also reported for several traffic infractions.”

Investigations are continuing.
