Bail denied for suspect in attempted murder

A MAN was remanded to prison yesterday for alleged attempted murder in addition to several other charges.

Calvin Alain appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain to face charges that included intentionally and unlawfully causing damage to a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and armed robbery.

It is alleged that on April 12, 2022, Alain, by means of unlawful harm, intentionally and unlawfully attempted to cause the death of Jamaal Ferguson. Furthermore, it is claimed that on the day in question he had in his possession a firearm, which police allege was a pistol.

It is also alleged that the accused, with a handgun, robbed Mr Ferguson of a white 2018 Honda Civic, a black iPhone valued at $1,200, and a iPhone XR.

Alain is further accused of intentionally and unlawfully causing damage to the Honda Civic.

Meanwhile, it is also claimed that he caused material damage to a white 2011 Honda Insight, the property of Onike Seymour, in the amount of $755.

The case will be fast tracked by way of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment and the matter is adjourned to October 18.
