AN ACKLINS man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday with threatening a police officer and assaulting him with a vehicle.

Clarence Williams, 48, of Lovely Bay, Acklins, represented by Attorney Alex Dorsett, appeared before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney on four charges that included threats of harm, assault with a dangerous instrument, disorderly behaviour and obscene language.

At 11.30pm on December 23, 2021, at Whitney’s Fish Fry, Chester’s Bay, Acklins, the accused is alleged to have threatened Police Sergeant 3601 Johnson with death. He is also charged with hitting Sgt Johnson with a car.

At 9pm on February 9, Williams is further accused of behaving in a disorderly manner in Lovely Bay and using obscene language once again to the annoyance of Sgt Johnson.

In court, the accused pleaded not guilty to all charges.

While Williams was granted a temporary $500 police bail, he is expected to return to court today for a decision on his official bail.

His trial is set for September 22, either during circuit court in Acklins, or once more in the Magistrate’s Court.
