A MAN was accused in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday of attempting to rape a 29-year-old woman.

Gamaliel Gray, 29, represented by Attorney Ian Cargill, faced Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on a charge of attempted rape.

On May 21, in New Providence, the accused is accused of trying to have sex with a 29-year-old woman without her consent.

Gray was not required to enter a plea at this time. He was informed that his case would proceed by way of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).

The magistrate also told Gray that his case would be heard before the Supreme Court, where he can also make an official bail application.

Until bail is granted, the accused will be remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Gray is expected to return to court for service of his VBI on September 14.
