A MAN was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services yesterday accused of attempting to murder two police officers and a woman.

Jeremy Dames, 30, faced Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain charged with three counts each of the 2020 attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

On January 19, 2020, on Quakoo Street, armed with a black and blue .40 caliber pistol, Dames was accused of trying to kill Corporal 3333 Precious Lewis, Superintendent Dwight Smith and Marie Sainvil.

Due to the serious nature of the offence, Dames was not required to enter a plea in court. He was informed that his case would proceed by way of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).

Although the accused was denied bail in the lower court, he can apply for it in the Supreme Court where his case will eventually be heard.

Until such time as Dames receives bail, he will be sent back to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

The accused is expected to receive his VBI on September 2.
