POLICE are investigating the murders of three men — one killed in Grand Bahama and two in New Providence.
Two of the killings took place on Sunday and one occurred yesterday.
According to police, authorities were called to an establishment in the West End community of Grand Bahama after 9pm on Sunday where there were reports that an argument involving a group of people led to a man being shot in his upper thigh.
The man died of his injuries after he was taken to the West End Community Clinic. Police said three men and a woman are assisting them in the investigation.
The victim is said to be Franklin “Tones” Bowleg.
His mother, Joy Wilchcombe, told ZNS North that her son had been shot shortly after a phone call with his twin brother who lives overseas.
She said the family is in shock about the killing and want justice.
“I cannot believe my son is dead. . .the doctor said his vital signs them was good. . but she said he’s gone, he didn’t make it. That’s something that will (haunt) me for the rest of my life. . .I love my child just like any other mother love their child,” she said.
In the second incident, a man was stabbed on Fritz Lane in New Providence shortly before 8pm on Sunday. The man was taken to the hospital, where he died. Initial investigations show the victim got into an argument with another man who produced a broken bottle and stabbed him several times before fleeing the scene.
The latest incident happened shortly before 2pm yesterday on Fifth Street, Coconut Grove, in New Providence. Officers found a man lying next to a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services where he later died. Police said initial investigations indicate the victim was repairing a vehicle when a gunman approached and shot him several times. The suspect then fled the scene heading east on foot toward Fourth Street.
