A 56-YEAR-OLD man was yesterday ordered to repair his son’s bicycle after admitting damaging it earlier this week.
Cyrol Thurston, 56, appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle- Davis charged with causing damage on March 8 to his son’s bicycle, valued at $150.
The 56-year-old, who pleaded guilty, told the court he committed the offence in anger.
Thurston said the incident happened after he kicked his son out of the house for being unruly and refusing to heed his words.
“I told him he had to leave because there was a situation where some stuff (from) my house was missing,” he told the court.
Thurston claimed his son denied knowing the whereabouts of the items, something, he said, that angered him.
The accused said it was because he was so angry that he went on to damage his son’s bike tyres. “He brought the police and I told the police I would fix the bike, but they still charged me,” he told the court.
Having listened to his explanation, Magistrate Rolle-Davis told him he would grant him an absolute discharge under the condition that he repairs the bicycle.
Asked how soon the repairs would be done, the accused said he would be able to do it by next week.
Carlos Georges, 19, also appeared before Magistrate Rolle-Davis yesterday after he was accused of obstructing a police officer from executing his duties on March 7.
The teenager is further accused of behaving in a disorderly manner, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
He denied the allegations and the case was adjourned to June 15 for trial.
He was also granted $1,500 bail with one surety.
