THE Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) congratulated the players who are participating in the college arena this year.
They include - Abigail Simms with the Indiana Tech Warriors; Sydney Clarke - UAB Blazers; Sierra Donaldson - Lee Flames; Elana Mackey - Mars Hill Lions; Africa Smith - Bethune-Cookman Wildcats; Hannah-Joy Simms - Brescia Bearcats; Shay’Tonya Missick and Kofi Bain – both at Johnson C Smith Golden Bulls; Jacobi Bain - Xavier of Louisiana Goldrush and Donte Armbrister - Hampton Pirates.
In this season, Simms and the Warriors are having a standout season with a perfect record to date of 10-0. In singles, Simms is playing alternatively in the number one, two and three positions. She also plays the No.1 in doubles. At 10-0, Indiana Tech holds a conference title already and is on a good trajectory for another.
Mackey recorded an almost perfect 7-1 singles record to date playing in both the No.4 and No.1 positions. They are 6-6.
Clarke has won 10 out of 13 matches in 2022 playing in the No.2, No.3 and No.4 positions. She also plays No.1 in doubles. They are 9-5 and preparing for another conference playoffs.
Bain is having a great debut year with Gold Rush having recorded singles and doubles wins.
Mackey is leading her team with the singles victories. Donaldson and Hannah-Joy Simms are playing in their senior years, while Missick and Armbrister recorded maiden singles college tennis victories in their debut seasons.
The BLTA wishes to express the success of all their college athletes well on the court and in the classrooms and they pray that they will all continue to play hard and do well.
