AS competition is slowly coming back on stream, The University of The Bahamas men’s soccer team is getting ready for competition with a series of scrimmages.
The team lost to Dynamos Football Club 5-0 Sunday at the Roscow A.L. Davies field but head coach Dion Godet said it was not about winning but improving.
“We capitalised on the opportunities that we had in this match and we grew from the last scrimmage we had,” he said. “When we took on United Football we were thrashed. Here we are out there and we are competitive. We have to fix a couple of things but we are playing a much better game and the team is showing growth. I am happy with that.”
The team lost to United FC about two weeks ago 11-4 and Godet added the team has made significant improvements since that match.
“We are moving a lot off of the ball,” he said. “We were more aggressive and we had more opportunities. At one point we fell apart a bit because we were not taking advantage of some opportunities. I think that was more tired legs more than anything though.
“Overall though I am seeing more movement off the ball which tells me that they are understanding the game and that is good for us.”
The Mingoes are scheduled to play United FC in another scrimmage Sunday.
