A MAN was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl.
Patrick Poitier, 28, stood before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse after assaulting the child on May 8 in New Providence.
In court, the accused was informed that due to the severe nature of his offence he would not be required to enter a plea and that his case would proceed by way of Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).
Poitier was also told that he could apply to the Supreme Court for bail, but until that time he would be sent back to BDCS.
The accused’s next court date is set for July 27 for service of his VBI.
