Accused faces court over March 6 shooting death

By PAVEL BAILEY

A MAN was charged in a Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with the murder of Perez Cuffe.

Javardo Adderley, 20, appeared before Senior Magistrate Samuel McKinney on a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of Cuffe on March 6 in New Providence.

Due to the nature of the offence Adderley was not required to enter a plea in magistrate’s court. The Magistrate then informed him that his case would proceed by way of a Voluntary Bill of Indictment (VBI).

Adderley's case will go to the Supreme Court where he is expected to plead to the charge and apply for bail.

Until bail is granted Adderley will be sent back to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.

Before being escorted from court the accused told the Magistrate that he has not had contact with his mother since his arrest. Magistrate McKinney then permitted Adderley to speak to his mother over the phone before his return to custody.

The accused is expected to return to the Magistrate’s Court on August 5 for service of his VBI.
