A MAN was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of vagrancy and theft.
Samuel Stevens, 32, was arrested for being in the area of Elizabeth Avenue without being able to give a satisfactory reason for being there. On the same day, he is also alleged to have stolen a brown paper bag containing $60 belonging to Raymond Stevens.
In court before Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr, Stevens pleaded guilty to the vagrancy charge, but pleaded not guilty to the theft charge.
The magistrate fined the accused $100 for the vagrancy charge or risk seven days in prison.
For the theft charge, he was granted bail at $500.
Stevens’ trial is set for June 13.
