BOTH Bahamian players posted double doubles to bring an end to Lyon’s two game skid in France’s Nationale Masculine 1 League.
Willis Mackey Jr finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds - both team highs - while Aaron Levarity added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the club’s 89-87 win over Hyeres- Toulon Wednesday night.
Lyon improved to 3-5 on the season, ranked no.11 in Group B.
For Mackey, it was his second double double in the last three games.
In an 84-62 loss to Rouen, Mackey led the team with 13 points and 10 rebounds - both team highs.
He made both attempts from beyond the arc and two blocked shots.
Mackey is averaging 11.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season after he came over as a medical transfer.
Levarity made his season debut with five points and two rebounds off the bench but has since been more involved in the offence with 15 point scoring efforts in his last two games.
He posted 15 points and six rebounds in a 93-68 loss to Le Harve prior to the game against Hyeres- Toulon. He spent last season with another NM1 club, Mulhouse Basket Agglomeration.
Levarity is in his third pro season after spending his previous two seasons with the Svendborg Rabbits of the Basketligaen in Denmark. He signed with Lyon in August.
Also in the NM1 League, Radshad Davis and Vendee Challans Basket improved their win streak to five games. They are now second in Group A at 6-2 after an 83-80 win over Poitiers. Davis scored a season high 19 points, which included 4-8 shooting on three pointers.
In his first year with the club, Davis leads Challans in scoring at 13.5 points per game and second in rebounding at 5.3 boards per game.
Some of Davis’ other top performances this season have included 18 points and eight rebounds - in an 86-73 win over Bereck and 16 points and six rebounds in an 81-77 win over Tarbes Lourdes.
The NM1 is the professional level third-tier division in France.
The two top teams from each season of the competition are promoted to the LNB Pro B, which is the French second division.
