Top watercraft riders in Nassau for the P1 Aquax World Championship

LEADING watercraft riders from the United States, the Caribbean, Western Europe and Australia are arriving in Nassau for the P1 AquaX Bahamas World Championship, where the iconic Atlantis Paradise Island resort will be the host destination for the three-day event from today until November 6.

More than 35 professional and amateur endurance racers, who have primarily qualified through performances in the USA national race series, will compete in six races over this weekend.

Welcoming the World Championship for the second time, the Atlantis has a successful history of hosting sports events and will provide a breath-taking setting for the high-speed AquaX action.

The Pro Enduro riders will be competing for the world title, with the amateur riders battling for the P1 AquaX Amateur International Cup.

A new trophy being presented this year is the Eric “The Eagle” Francis Memorial Trophy.

An immensely popular and charismatic rider, Eric became AquaX world champion in the Bahamas in 2019 but sadly passed away in June this year.

He had been a member of the AquaX family since 2013 and the trophy will keep alive the memory of his achievements and vibrant personality.

His widow Sophie, who will be competing in Nassau this weekend, will present the trophy at the awards ceremony on Sunday evening.

“The World Championship will be broadcast in the United States on the Bally Sports Regional Networks and CBS Sports Network, with international coverage on leading sports channels in more than 100 million homes in over 50 countries,” said P1 USA Championship manager Michelle Petro.

“The event will also be live streamed on the P1 AquaX Facebook and Powerboat P1 YouTube pages.”
